Bioshock not working on windows 7

Bioshock not working on windows 7

Postby gabriel » Tue Sep 29, 2009 6:20 pm

I am having issue playing BioShock
I have installed Bioshock on Windows 7 RC x64 OS.
The installation went well but as soon as I run the game it gave black screen and then no progress at all. I got the following message

"Program Has Stopped Working ...Do you Want to Continue"
Close Program - And the Game is Terminated

Is it because of 64 bit OS?

Bioshock will not run on older video card drivers. Please ensure that you are using the latest video card drivers. Also, download the latest DirectX.

After many trials and errors, I finally managed to get Bioshock running in windows 7. I had to run the installer in Vista compatibility mode to fix the issue.

I had the same issue and fixed it after running Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displayLang=en

After installing the Runtime ALL my games work just fine in windows 7!
It installs all versions of DirectX & the games will use what they require.
