GameGuard fix for windows 7

Postby aaron » Wed Jul 08, 2009 5:09 pm

I recently installed Windows 7 beta today and the first thing I tried was Shaiya. The game successfully downloaded all the patches but won’t start due to GameGuard’s failure to load. Can anyone help me out?

I have read somewhere that this is because Win 7 not allowing gameguard to hook into core system. dlls. Therefore games running GameGuard will show the splash screen and then crash with an error 0.

I had this problem on windows vista and I had to disable User Account Control (UAC) to fix this problem. You can also try this in Windows 7. Windows 7 offers four different settings for UAC. Choose Never Notify me when: to see if this will solve GameGuard loading problem.

You can try the following steps to solve your problem
1 Install game of your choice
2 Install the game Crossfire.
3 Remove the GameGuard.des file from your game that is not working fine.
4 Replace it with the GameGuard.des file installed with Crossfire.
5 Run your game and it should work fine.
