If you have done an upgrade install from vista, then you can check device manager to make sure everything is fine. It is easy to fix any issue if you have done a clean upgrade from vista. But with XP,be prepare to face major challenges.
Click on Start->run-> type device manager, and press Enter.
If you find any item accompanied by a yellow exclamation point, then do the following steps
Double-click the item accompanied by a yellow exclamation -> click the Update Driver button-> Search automatically for updated driver software. Hopefully, that will fix the issue.
If it does not solve the issue and you had done a clean install from Vista, click the Update Driver button again-> click Browse my computer for driver software. Type C:\Windows.old\Windows, make sure that Include subfolders is checked-> Next.
