I do not like the live preview feature in windows 7. Can anyone let me know how to turn it off?

1. Start->run->Type Regedit

2. Navigate to the following key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

3. In right-side pane set the value of DisablePreviewWindow to 1 to disable live previews.

4. That's it. Reboot your computer to take effect.

Taskbar Thumbnail Preview feature in Windows 7 shows small thumbnail preview of opened window when you hover your mouse pointer on taskbar icons. So it is good to turn off this feature on low configuration systems running on Windows 7.

Another method to disable thumbnail preview Through Group Policy Editor
start ->Run->type gpedit.msc -> press enter
Navigate to
User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Start Menu and Taskbar
Locate “Turn off Taskbar Thumbnails” in right pan of Group policy editor -> double click on it->
Select Disable ->apply ->Press ok

Another method
(1) Right click on the Windows 7 Start button -> Properties,
Or right click on any empty space on the Taskbar -> Properties.
(2) Taskbar tab-> uncheck the Use Desktop Preview check box->OK

Taskbar Thumbnail Preview only works when you have tuned off Aero in Windows 7.
