Mapping a network drive in Win7 RC

Mapping a network drive in Win7 RC

Postby ambrose » Tue Jul 14, 2009 6:53 pm

I cannot map a network drive in windows 7. I am getting the following error when trying to connect to an FTP connection.
“Can't map network drive: (1204) The specified network provider name is invalid.”
Any ideas?

Here is the solution of the problem:
Start--> Control Panel--> System and Maintenance--> Administrative Tools--> Double-Click Local Security Policy--> click the triangle next to Local Policy--> Security Options--> Network security: LAN manager authentication level--> Send LM & NTLM responses form the drop down box-->OK

Mapping a drive in Windows 7 RC is simple. I personally have mapped all of 1TB drives in my main system to my wireless network.
(1) Make sure you are on the system that has the hard drive you want to map to your network.
(2)Computer or My Computer icon on desktop
(3)Click on Map Network Drive.
(4)Select the folder or entire drive to map.
(5) Click save

If you want have more than 1 system to link, then you have to allow windows 7 to service manager.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentControllSet\Servi cees\LanmanServer\parameters
set the Size to 3
