Microsoft certifying PCs as compatible with windows 7.

In order to assure PC buyers, Microsoft has recently started certifying PCs as ‘compatible with Windows 7. Previously Microsoft certified PCs could only run Vista Home Basic but now PCs will need to work with all versions of Windows 7 such as 64-bit versions of the OS. Microsoft has unveiled that products that get the logo are checked for common problems to reduce the crashes, hangs, and reboots experienced by the windows users. Now the requirements for getting the Windows 7 compatibility label are stricter– partially to increase acceptance of 64bit systems, and partially to avoid the mistakes Microsoft faced with the Vista logo.

Microsoft appears to have learned a lot from Windows Vista. It does seem that microsoft got Windows 7 right - Windows 7 compatible logo program and all. The new logo will appear on products that have passed windows logo testing to verify its compatibility and reliability with Windows 7.

Sources reveal that any machine carrying the sticker will need to work with all versions of Windows 7. That includes the 64-bit versions of the operating system.
