Peer Guardian 2 with Windows 7 RC x64

Are you guys able to get Peer Guardian 2 fully WORKING with Windows 7 Beta (64-bit).

I get the following message:

"PeerGuardian is unable to load the packet filtering driver. This could happen if PeerGuardian crashed and didn't have a chance to unload the driver or if the file pgfilter.sys can't be found."

Steps to resolve Peer Guardian 2 issue on windows 7 RC

Postby boris » Sun Sep 13, 2009 5:45 pm

The problem is the Driver Signature Enforcement Policy because Windows 7 requires digitally signed drivers. You have two options to resolve this:
1. Press f8 (note you will have to do this every time you want to run PG 2) before windows 7 boot and choose Disable Driver Signature Enforcement.
Or
(1) Turn off UAC
(2) Restart
(3) Download DSEO 1.2
(4) Patch C:\Program Files\PeerGuardian2\pgfilter.sys with the tool -> set the system to test mode, with the tool
(5)Reboot

Steps to get Peer Guardian 2 run on windows 7 RC

Postby bonaventure » Tue Sep 15, 2009 3:04 am

I would like to share my experience with you. Here are the steps to get Peer Guardian 2 run on windows 7 RC by signing the driver yourself:

1. Download pg2-rc1-test2.exe from here
http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/
2. Install normal, but don't launch
3. Download dseo12.exe from here
http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=dseo
4. Run as Administrator
5. Now Enable Test Mode
7. Sign a System File by using use DSEO’s sign file option and manually add path for pgfilter.sys
"C:\Program Files\PeerGuardian2\pgfilter.sys" or whereever you installed PeerGuardian
8. Exit and reboot
9. Start->run->type bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
10. Now you can launch PG2 with no problems
