The best way to speed up windows 7 is to disable any unused services that we do not require in our daily use by pressing Windows key + R and then typing in Services.msc from there for example I always disable print spooler as I have no printer installed, there are lots of services you can safely disable you just have to read or lookup what each does.

I believe the most effective means to speed up Windows 7 is to clean the Windows registry because there is no internal cleaning tool to clear out errors and corrupt files from the registry. This results to significant congestion that will slow down Windows 7 significantly.

I think it is a good choice for systems with less RAM. In case of more than 1GB RAM then it will be only notable if you run some resource-hungry programs.

This may be due to AVG firewall that block the slui.exe and therefore you won’t be able to activate Windows 7. To disable the firewall process you must have admin privileges.
Here is how to fix activation problem:
(1)Start-->Run-->enter cmd into search box--> Do not just press enter. Hold STRG + Shift and press Enter! That is the shortcut to run this as an admin
(2)Enter the following command to enable hidden admin account
net user administrator /active:yes
(3)Switch users
Start-->shut down--> switch users and you will see the admin account!
Click on the admin icon and now you can turn off your firewall that blocked the slui.exe

(4) Open task-manager. --> services --> navigate to the AVG firewall service --> right-click -> turn it off.
(5)Now click on start-->cmd-->enter slui.exe and you are done
