If you wish to upgrade from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows 7, you need to back up your files and settings and then do a clean installation of the 64-bit version of Windows 7.

I would suggest a clean installation because it gives you you less chance of file corruption than an upgrade does.

: Yes you have to do a clean install in order to move from the 32 bit to the 64 bit version.

Before you upgrade to Windows 7, make sure to compare your system’s specifications with the Windows 7 system requirements as follows:
· 1GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
· 1GB RAM (32-bit) / 2GB RAM (64-bit)
· 16GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Don’t forget to back up your computer before you begin, and frequently during testing. You can back up files to an external hard disk, a DVD or CD, or a network folder.
