uTorrent issue on windows 7

uTorrent issue on windows 7

Postby claude » Tue Sep 08, 2009 5:24 am

I am having some issues with my uTorrent client on windows 7. All downloads stop at 99.9% and utorrent becomes unresponsive
Utorrent randomly became unresponsive and all downloads had stopped at 99.9%.
I get this error message:
"Disk Overloaded 100%"
I even uninstalled utorrent, reformatted, reloaded Windows 7 and reinstalled utorrent only. But still got the same error. I have also tried to run uTorrent in compatibility mode, but no success
So, does anyone know how to solve it?

I also had the same issue. I believe there is some problem with CIFS in Windows 7 that utorrent does not like. Download the file to the C drive it may work.

I fixed this problem on a particular torrent by running uTorrent as administrator and running in vista compatibility mode.

I reinstalled utorrent, logged in as administrator and run in compatibility mode for xp. All these solutions work for a couple of days and then again got the same issue. I feel like I'm banging my head against the wall.

Have you allowed µTorrent in the Windows firewall?

I turned off the cache function in uTorrent. Now it works just fine!

Try to run uTorrent in Vista Compatibility Mode with Administrative rights.

Steps to solve utorrent issue on windows 7

Postby melvin » Wed Sep 23, 2009 5:39 am

Here is a fix
(1)Start -> Run -> taskmgr
Or ctrl+del+alt->task manager
(2)click on processes tab
(3)View -> Select Columns-> check I/O Reads and I/O Writes

Now you will come to know the no. of Input/Output Operations utorrent.exe doing per second.
And you can test how your changes will influence to system behavior.

In uTorrent:
options->Preferences -> Advanced -> Disk Cache
Check:
"Override automatic cache size and specify the size manually" set to 80MB, for example
"Enable caching of disk writes"
"Enable caching of disk reads"
"Disable Windows caching of disk writes"
"Disable Windows caching of disk reads"

Uncheck other options.

The above settings helped me to resolve HDD speed problems and overload on windows7
