The Windows 7 Starter edition is for simple computing tasks such as checking email, surfing, etc. and is meant for less powerful systems for example Atom powered netbook. You won’t get Windows 7 Starter from the retail stores because it will only pre-installed on new notebook machines.
Windows 7 Home Basic will be available only in developing countries like India, China, Philippines, etc with new machines.
Windows 7 Enterprise edition is similar to Windows 7 Ultimate but meant for businesses that go for volume licensing.
Windows 7 Home Premium is just similar to XP Home and Vista Home Premium, is meant for home users worldwide with a very appealing Aero glass user interface. It contains Windows Media Center to play different multimedia formats and there is a built-in DVD maker for creating movies and Blu-ray disks directly from Explorer.
Windows 7 Professional contains all the features of Windows 7 Home Premium, and some extra advanced networking features such as Location Aware Printing feature. This feature allows user who use the same laptop in multiple locations.
Windows 7 Ultimate contains all the features of Windows 7 Home Premium and Professional and adds some extra enterprise and security related features. Ultimate also supports multiple languages on the same computer.
