I have windows vista basic that fits all my requirements and with SP2, it is almost adequate to my standards. I do not see myself buying Win7.

If you are struggling with Vista, or just cannot wait for an excuse to buy a new PC, Windows 7 will be available to buy from October 22.

Microsoft has also confirmed that it will introduce a guarantee system whereby any user purchasing a Vista PC before Oct 22 will get a free upgrade to Windows 7, or at the very least a good discount on that upgrade, but it has not yet released details.

I would like to add here that now even the cheapest version of Windows 7 will be able to run as many applications as you want.
Microsoft shares were up 7 cents at $21.47 on Nasdaq.

The latest release is important to win back public confidence after the disappointing launch of Vista in 2007. It was incompatible with some low-power machines and perceived by many people to be very complicated.
